Dear Debate Team Parent,

Please contribute to Berkeley High Speech and Debate!

In September, we ask every family to make a Fair Share contribution to pay for entry fees to attend tournaments and stipends for our coaches. For varsity debaters, we ask $500-1000 per debater. For novice debaters, we ask $100-300 per debater. We trust you to determine where you fall on this sliding scale. And if your family is unable to make a contribution in this range, your child is still welcome to debate. All students are welcome to participate in all aspects of Berkeley High Speech and Debate, regardless of family resources. Please contact Rich Simon and Olgica Bakajin at richandolgica@olgica.com if the fair share contribution is a barrier for your family.

You'll see below that there is a two-step process for paying your fair share contribution: notifying us, and making the donation. The Berkeley High Administration, and not BHSD parent leadership, manages the funds, and this two-step process makes it easier for parent leadership to have realtime information about what funds are available.
